VAMPIRE BIOLOGY So, vampires in Jojo have weird strengths and weaknesses, just like regular vampires. However, they're very much unlike typical ones - to be a vampire in Jojos essentially gives you control over your own biology, which if the vampire in question tests the limits of enough, they can even gain control of it on a cellular level. Dio is the only vampire to have pushed the limits of his control to their fullest and as a result has generated some pretty crazy powers.
First off, he's able to instantly vaporize the fluids in his body, which causes it to become extremely cold. Although this doesn't effect him, anyone that touches him will have the body part that made contact with him completely frozen in ice, as it freezes the fluids in their own body instantly. If he chooses to grab someone with both hands, he can encase their entire body in ice, leaving them completely helpless(usually). This can cause third degree frostbite pretty quickly if not taken care of. An easy way to get around this is to attack him in any way that doesn't involve physical contact, which includes just using a weapon as opposed to your bare hands. The ability requires fluids of some kind that can be frozen, or else it won't work.
Speaking of bodily fluids(heh heh), Dio can open small slits in his eyes and fire pressurized fluid through them. The force behind this is strong enough to slice through stone but it's more of a surprise attack, since at long range it wouldn't be too difficult to dodge, but up close it can easily catch someone off guard and punch a hole through their face or something. If your character is close enough, they should be able to see the slits opening in his pupils as well, as it's apparently noticeable enough up close.
Continuing on the topic of bodily fluids, being a vampire, Dio can drain the blood of other people to sustain himself. However unlike regular vampires, this is done through his fingers, rather than through use of his fangs. He's able to slip his fingers in through someone's skin(surprisingly, without doing any permanent damage, like so) which then produce tentacles out of the tips that suck blood that way. While he does this, his regeneration is boosted to the extent all existing wounds on his body will heal instantly. One person is enough to heal any battle damage he sustains, but if he's really badly damaged it can take a while and a lot of blood to fully heal, like when he was impaled on a statue and burned continuously in a house fire until it went out, then buried beneath the rubble of the same house that collapsed on him. If Dio goes for a long time without blood, although it won't kill him, he will gradually grow weaker to the point of immobilization, but he'll still be fully conscious. That said, if someone comes close enough(super close like leaning over his body), he can focus enough to take blood from that one person to get himself going again.
I mentioned regeneration earlier, so let's cover that next. Dio's regeneration is incredible, as wounds on his body naturally close up in no time at all, and even broken limbs only take about 3-4 seconds to mend themselves. He's even able to survive walking through fire, since his skin mends itself faster than fire can burn through it. If a limb is cut off, while he can't grow it back, he can reattach it if he gets a hold of it(which his stand could do for him.) Blood lost through wounds also seems to naturally soak back in through his skin, so his regeneration can even account for loss of blood. Now in the manga, the only way to kill Dio was to leave him out in the sun, as even when his head exploded and he was for all intents and purposes "dead"(imagine being dead but conscious, basically) his body still showed signs of life according to the speedwagon foundation staff, he just couldn't move. In MoM however, this has been nerfed a little, so destroying his brain is an effective way to kill him now too. Anything other than this won't really work, as the rest of his organs are useless essentially, since willpower is what holds his body together and keeps it functioning. Even cutting his head off of his body will do nothing, as he is capable of either reattaching to his neck or commandeering a new body for himself should the need arise by replacing the other person's head with his own.
Dio's hair is also something he can manipulate fully, much like his body, in that he can lengthen it at will like tentacles. Mainly he uses this to implant a flesh bud into someone, which is a spore made out of Dio's cells. The spore implants itself into a person and attaches it's tentacles to the person's brain, putting them under Dio's control. While a spore is attached to a host, sunlight is ineffective in destroying it, but once removed they won't last more than two seconds in direct sunlight. Having said that, the spores are incredibly difficult to remove. Forcefully removing it will damage the brain permanently unless great care is taken, but also if it feels threatened, the spore will jam it's tentacles into the person trying to remove it and attempt to take control of them, which if it successfully manages to do, will kill it's former host in the process. Finally, Dio can willingly command the flesh bud to kill off it's host at any time, which causes the tentacles to spread throughout the person's body entirely and rip them apart. It's really really gross.
Dio's control over his own biology also extends to other people through touch(although in MoM this has been nerfed to not work on anyone but animals, as to avoid body horror shit going down.) In essence, it allows him to take any two existing organisms and fuse them together, creating a hybrid of sorts. The nature of the creature itself is generally much like that of any other animal, but Dio can order them to do whatever the hell he wants them to. Just look at this owlcat. What the fuck Dio. |
